Six Beers to Enjoy During the Big Game
- Under Pressure- There is a tremendous sense of urgency and pressure on the entire Denver Broncos organization. At the top, there is pressure on John Elway after losing the last Super Bowl and remaking his defense to get to this level. Coach Gary Kubiak is also feeling pressure after being selected by Elway to replace successful coach and two time Super Bowl coach John Fox. Peyton Manning may be feeling the most pressure to win what could be his last game and avoid a 1-3 record in Super Bowls that could define his legacy. Nothing better symbolizes this pressure that Avery Brewing's "Tweak". This beer is so appropriate because Tweak was an anxiety ridden, over-caffeinated boy in the South Park Cartoons, which happen to take place in Colorado. Tweak is and 18% ABV coffee flavored stout, aged in bourbon barrels , which also scores 97 on BeerAdvocate. Should the Broncos fail to win the Super Bowl this time, this beer maybe just the ticket to drown their sorrows.
- The End Zone Debacle- The grounds crew at the Super Bowl made headlines this week, by painting both end zones in the colors of the home team Denver Broncos. While Roger Goodell probably appreciated some buffoonery that was not attributable to him, this oversight drew the interest of NFL conspiracy theorists. Somehow making the connection between this accident and a Denver fix, we think this is more a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing on part of the grounds crew. With that, we recommend Left Hand Brewing's "Good Juju" ginger flavored beer. This smooth drinking beer out of Longmont Colorado is a refreshing drink with a light but not overpowering ginger taste on the finish.
- Carolina's Defense- With Denver's defense getting all the accolades, the Carolina Panther's defense has been slightly overshadowed. Carolina's defense is led by middle linebacker Luke Kuechly and outspoken defensive back Josh Norman, this defense can bring the heat. Our final selection to represent the Panther's defensive spirit and North Carolina is Fullsteam's "Cackalacky". Another beer featuring ginger, this is a hoppy zippy beer that pares well with spicy foods and goes down easy like a 40 year old quarterback in the grasp
There you have it, a six pack of story lines and beers to match. If you are able to get your hands on any of the beers you will not be disappointed. If you can get all six, we would love to hear your thoughts on the beers or the game.
