Awards in the competition’s 96 beer-style categories were presented May 6, 2016 during the World Beer Cup award ceremony at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
O’Connor Brewing Co. was awarded a bronze medal in the Classic Irish-Style Dry Stout beer style category for its O’Connor Dry Irish Stout—a robust dry Irish stout with a rich, roasted malt aroma, smooth and velvety mouthfeel, and a lingering dry finish. O’Connor Dry Irish Stout (aka ODIS) has also previously won a bronze medal in the 2014 Dublin Craft Beer Cup.
“We are thrilled and humbled to be awarded a World Beer Cup medal for ODIS, particularly because of our Irish-American roots,” said Kevin O’Connor, owner and president of O’Connor Brewing Co. “ODIS is one of our year-round flagship beers, and we are extremely proud that it has gained the recognition that it has.”
World Beer Cup winners were selected by an international panel of 253 beer judges from 31 countries. Regarded as the “Olympics of Beer Competition,” the World Beer Cup saw an impressive field of 6,596 entries from 1,907 breweries in 55 countries.
Presented by the Brewers Association, the World Beer Cup has been held every other year since 1996, to celebrate the art and science of brewing by recognizing outstanding achievement. For more additional information, visit the World Beer Cup website.
