Beer Up On The Presidential Campaign Trail
Dogfish Head / Victory / Stone reintroduce a hoppy and hellaciously herbaceous collaboration of flavor
ESCONDIDO, CA (March 7, 2016) – The masterminds behind Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Victory Brewing Company and Stone Brewing have joined forces once again to create the ever-flavorful, herb-infused Dogfish Head / Victory / Stone Saison du BUFF. In an honorable crusade for flavor, the Stone Collaboration beer will start arriving this week in limited amounts via 12-ounce six-packs and on draft to retailers in select U.S. markets.
In 2003 Sam Calagione (Dogfish Head, founder), Bill Covaleski (Victory, co-founder) and Greg Koch (Stone, co-founder) formed an ad hoc coalition they dubbed Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor (BUFF) with the goal of drawing attention to the craft beer revolution. While it’s hard to fathom today, in 2003 the mainstream media gave scant notice to craft beer, and it was the three brothers of BUFF’s goal to change that by driving awareness for quality, flavorful beers.
When we heard about the Raleigh Beer Garden last year, we knew this was a must visit beer destination. Beer Up is no stranger to Raleigh and it is a yearly tradition to visit this beer hotspot. The Raleigh Beer Garden has two Guinness world records to its credit including most varieties of beer and tap and most breweries on tap. Luckily this past week one of our contributors, Aaron Taylor AKA "A-Train" was able to weigh in on this marvel of beer consumption and give us the lowdown in this featured contributor article.
LUNATIC BLONDE, BELGIAN-STYLE ALE, AND NAPOLEON COMPLEX, HOPPY
ASHEVILLE, NC, JANUARY 26TH 2016 --- Just six months after opening their 50 barrel production facility Wicked Weed Brewing is adding two more year-round brands to their ever-growing portfolio, Lunatic Blonde, Belgian-Style Ale and Napoleon Complex, Hoppy Pale Ale.
Planned for package and release in February, both beers have been an integral part of Wicked Weed’s lineup at their original 15 barrel brewery in downtown Asheville. Lunatic Blonde, appearing on the brewpub’s draught list since day one, is a flagship Belgian-style ale drawing inspiration from Old World beer practices, while still appealing to modern palettes.
Here at the Beer Up Blog, we are never content to rest on our laurels or accept defeat. Last weekend's NFL Playoff Picks gave us a taste of both victory and defeat. The first day had us picking the New England Patriots over the Kansas City Chiefs and the Arizona Cardinals over the Green Bay Packers. Things seemed to be shaping up as our beer methodology gave us two early wins. Brimming with confidence, we did not fare so well in the second game as both of our picks, the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers, lost their respective games. Although every game was close, we would have been better off picking home teams. However we did promise a more in depth, analytical approach to picking the AFC and NFC championship round. So, with that said, here are our picks.
