If you’re here, we probably don’t have to tell you all about Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) and how it ages in bourbon barrels for a year in caves beneath Grand Rapids. Or how it's frequently included in lists of the best beers in the world. In fact, you may have been involved in crashing our web server (knock on wood) in years past because you wanted to figure out how to find some KBS. Unfortunately you probably also know that tickets to the KBS bottle release have been sold out.
Luckily, we have you covered. Just like last year, Beer Up will be keeping you up to date on KBS events as the information develops. If you are interested in our KBS Beer Review we have you covered there as well. In fact not only are we a fan of the KBS, but our viewers chose Founders in a field of 32 brewers during our March Madness Beer Up Bracket.
Cholaca sales in the beer segment expected to increase by 500% over the previous year
BOULDER, CO. (February 15, 2017) – The numbers are in: Cholaca grew sales by 300% in the beer segment from 2015 to 2016, and already has commitments for over 3,000 gallons for 2017. Boulder, Colo. based Cholaca, pure, 100% cacao, began supplying its liquid cacao to craft brewers in Colorado in 2015, and then quickly expanded to supply breweries across the country. Brewers loved the ingredient in their chocolate beers so much that Cholaca had to create customized bulk containers to ensure optimum transfer and sanitation, and excellent consistency.
In 2016, Cholaca sold over 3,600 gallons of pure liquid cacao to approximately 30 breweries. Of these 30 breweries, approximately a half-dozen of them are nationally distributed, including Breckenridge Brewery, Fort Collins Brewery, Great Divide Brewing Company, Oskar Blues, Tommyknocker Brewery and Troegs Independent Brewing.
Join us March 6-11 in our hometown of Grand Rapids, MI for our annual KBS Week, which includes tappings throughout the city, a ticketed bottle release and our taproom release party.
Tickets on Sale February 18 at 11am EST
KBS bottles will be sold through a ticketing system, which allows you to purchase your allotment in advance. These tickets go on sale on Saturday, February 18 at 11am EST via KBSWeek.com. We anticipate they will sell very quickly.
